El Salvador is the 5th largest economy in Central America with a GDP of $35.3 billion in 2024, up from $34.0 the prior year. Total bilateral trade in goods and services with the U.S. was $10.7 billion in 2024, with a trade surplus of $2.7 billion in favor of the U.S. Its economy is predominantly services-based, with rapidly expanding electricity, professional and technical services and construction sectors.
